The Creatives Behind the Book
Gary D. Schmidt is the author of more than fifteen books for children and young adults including Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy, which received both a Newbery Honor and a Printz Honor, and The Wednesday Wars, which received a Newbery Honor. He lives in Alto, Michigan.
Elizabeth Stickney is the pseudonym of Anne Stickney Schmidt, the late wife of author Gary D. Schmidt and the author of poems, essays, and picture books.
G. Brian Karas has illustrated more than ninety children’s books, including two by Megan McDonald about Ant and Honey Bee; Tap Tap Boom Boom by Elizabeth Bluemle; and Are You Going to Be Good? by Cari Best, a New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Children’s Book of the Year. G. Brian Karas lives in the Hudson Valley of New York.
