Georgia Heard is the author of Creatures of Earth, Sea, and Sky: Animal Poems and has compiled several poetry anthologies for children, including The Arrow Finds Its Mark: A Book of Found Poems and Falling Down the Page: A Book of List Poems. A founding member of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project with Lucy Calkins, she is also the author of multiple books on teaching writing. She lives in North Palm Beach, Florida. Aaron is an avid animal lover and grew up participating in 4-H showing animals at the county fair in Carrollton, Ohio. He showed hogs, sheep and chickens for many, many years, and to this day, can still properly display a chicken’s tail feathers. He did show turkeys one year, but they were not to his liking and not very bright. More than one person has said that his spirit animal is a fox, but it’s hard to say if it’s because he is foxy, or just because they have the same color of hair. Although he does not currently own any animals, he does watch a good number of dogs because, well, art.
