Beep! Beep! Beep! Meet Blue. A muddy country road is no match for this little pick up–that is, until he gets stuck while pushing a dump truck out of the muck. Luckily, Blue has made a pack of farm animal friends along his route. And they’re willing to do whatever it takes to get their pal back on the road. With a text full of truck sounds and animal noises to read aloud, here is a rollicking homage to the power of friendship and the rewards of helping others.
A cute book with popularity that makes it seem almost destined to be a classic. The combination of animals (and reminders of the sounds they make!) together with a couple of trucks is probably enough alone to make this a favorite for many kiddos and the message of teamwork and being kind is one that all can appreciate. Rhyming books always get extra credit in my book and the manners and personality of the Little Blue Truck (who never says anything but "Beep!") conveyed by Shertle and McElmurry is impressive!
This is a great little book! The rhyming text is perfectly metered and less predictable that you would expect. The story clips along, matter-of-factly as the little blue truck busily goes about his day. He is genuinely friendly and helpful, and in the end, reaps what he has sown. I read this cute story to my grandson at naptime today and was just a little sad that he didn't ask me to read it again. You will want to read it again and again.
This is one of the first board books we discovered for our first baby, and it's still a favorite. The rhymes are great and unique. The story is fun and features vehicles and vehicle noises and animals and animal noises, making it a fun read aloud. Plus the messages about friendship, forgiveness, and slowing down to help others along the road make it a great read with good lessons.
