The Creatives Behind the Books
L. Frank Baum (1856–1919) was an American storyteller best known for creating the magical Land of Oz. He worked in many creative fields—including theater, journalism, and retail—before turning to children’s books. His lively imagination and playful sense of wonder led him to write stories filled with unusual characters, adventure, and heart. Baum’s tales, especially The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, have delighted generations of readers and helped shape the world of modern fantasy for children.
Asha Pearse is a freelance designer and illustrator working within publishing. Her work is a collaboration of quirky hand drawn and painted elements and cut out printed textures, brought together in a layered collage. She likes to sneak her old ginger cat Aubrey into her pictures. Asha lives in Oxfordshire, where she drinks a lot of tea and eats too much cake. She also really likes robots and stars.
Adam Horsepool, an avid doodler since childhood, always dreamed of making a career out of his passion for art. He pursued his dream and graduated from the University of Lincoln (UK) with a degree in animation, which jumpstarted his career as an illustrator and made him fall in love with concept art.
