Read the nine numbered books in order, beginning with The Adventures of Nanny Piggins and ending with the Christmas guide. The episodes are highly self-contained, but recurring family, circus, and neighborhood characters make more sense in sequence.
Nanny Piggins and the Origin Story is a later prequel about Sarah Piggins before she became the Greens' nanny. It is most satisfying after book one, once readers know the character whose past it explains. The Epically Awesome Odyssey is a separate, unnumbered 2026 retelling and does not become book 10.

The humor celebrates rule-breaking, enormous amounts of cake, exaggerated insults, and cartoonishly unsafe stunts. There are kidnappings, circus peril, jail jokes, weapons used for slapstick, and adults who are selfish or incompetent, but consequences stay deliberately over-the-top rather than realistic.
