When an old woman gets sick and her garden begins to die, the doodle bugs call on the Leaf Men to make things right again.
William Joyce's absolutely gorgeous illustrations absolutely make this tale of the fight between good and evil in one dying garden between the doodlebugs and the leaf men they summon for help and the Spider Queen and her ant minions. The story is a little odd and requires the use of one's very active imagination, but is at the sample time beautifully soothing.
William Joyce does a lot of stuff but children’s books are his true bailiwick (The Numberlys, Rolie Polie Olie, Dinosaur Bob, George Shrinks, and the #1 New York Times bestselling The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, which is also his Academy Award–winning short film, to name a few). He lives in Shreveport, Louisiana. Talk to William Joyce and look at upcoming work at @HeyBillJoyce on Twitter and Instagram.
