I'm a middle grade author who was born in Australia but now lives in New Zealand. Because I'm mysterious, I also writes under the name Amanda Ashby and my books have been nominated for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice award, and listed by the New York Public Libraryʼs Stuff for the Teen Age. My favorite past times include watching Buffy repeats, reading books and doing housework. Well, two out of three ain't bad
My all time favorite memory was one Christmas when we were at the beach (I grew up in Australia so it's summer in December). I was given two new Trixie Belden books and a big bag of Cheetos and I spent the entire day under a tree reading and snacking. It really was the perfect moment!
I'm also a children's librarian and I've always found the best way to encourage kids to read is not judge them on what books they select. Reading is such a joyful experience and while it's nice if certain books can also be educational, I think it's more important that your kids actually like it and want to read another one just like it!
The Earthsea Trilogy by Ursual LeGuin
My two favourite hobbies are reading and watching television, but if I get really stuck I will have a shower. There is something magical about water and it always helps me figure things out!
Reading has always been the main focal point of my life. My dad basically sat me down when I was ten and handed me The Hobbit. He said if I didn't like it, we might have a problem! Fortunately I was hooked and I read my way through his bookshelf and then anything else I could get my hands on. I still spend far too much time every day looking at what books to add to my TBR pile
