Why I Became A Children's Book Author

I became a children's book author for two reasons: 1) I love books more than anything. And 2) I am unemployable in any other capacity!

"About" from the Macmillan Spring 2018 Catalog

What advice do you have for parents and others who are trying to raise readers?

Let them read whatever they want! The best way to encourage this is by using a library card, and letting them pick out their own books. Second, read TO them. And third: let them catch you in the act of reading!

If you weren't a children's book author/illustrator, what would you do?

School librarian!

What do you hope to be remembered for?

Being a kind and generous friend.

Do you have any upcoming books you can tell us about?

Coming in Spring 2019, look for Megabugs!, a nonfiction exploration of prehistoric ancestors and relatives of insects. Hint - they were $%%^ huge. :) Also in Spring 2019, The Canadian Kids' Guide to Outdoor Fun. There's bugs in that one too.
