Black car, green car, nice car, mean car. Near car, far car. Whoa! Bizarre car! Ready to hit the road? Gear up for a nonstop parade of shapes, sizes, sounds, and even smells in a wild array of cars packed with big personalities, awesome features, and eccentric passengers. This rousing excursion is sure to thrill all fans of things that go, as well as aficionados of the illustrator’s signature style.
Making books is one of my favorite things in the world, but not my ONLY favorite thing. I also love hanging out with my family and giant dog Theo, playing the guitar, running, and doing non book-related art projects. Music is always a part of my creative routing (unless I’m writing, then quiet is the key), and I have a growing list of podcasts keep things interesting when in the middle of a project.
Bob Staake has written and/or illustrated more than fifty books, including The Red Lemon, a New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Children’s Book of the Year. His work has graced the cover of The New Yorker more than a dozen times, and his November 17, 2008, Barack Obama victory cover was named the Best Magazine Cover of the Year by Time magazine. He lives on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts.
