Join Pinkalicious as she celebrates Christmas in New York Times bestselling author and artist Victoria Kann’s Pinkalicious: Merry Pinkmas!—complete with poster, cards, and sticker sheet! This year Pinkalicious has decided she wants a bright pink artificial Christmas tree. But Mommy and Daddy immediately say no—the Pinkertons always get real trees for the holidays. Despite Pinkalicious’s begging and pleading, each family member has a different objection: real trees smell better; it’s tradition; and there is definitely no room to store a big pink tree in the house after Christmas! Pinkalicious is disappointed, but she tries to put on her best cheerful face. Then, the day before Christmas, Mommy and Daddy surprise Pinkalicious by coming home with a gorgeously pink artificial tree and Pinkalicious is delighted! It’s pinkatastic!
As evidenced by the title, this is indeed a very pink Christmas. Avid fans of the Pinkalicious series may find this book extra endearing, but as someone who's never read a Pinkalicious book before, it was a little pink for me and Pinkalicious' reasoning for a pink tree, despite everyone else's objections made the outcome seem selfish rather than representing the true spirit of the season.
There are some pretty funny and clever moments in this story that talks about family traditions! This isn't my favorite holiday book as I don't love that the story is focused on getting things, like adding more sparkles or pink to make Christmas more special. The illustrations are cute, especially for lovers of pink!
