Ludwig Bemelmans (1896-1963) was born in the Austrian Tirol, coming to the United States in 1914. Although best known for his children’s books, he also wrote fiction and non-fiction for adults, on subjects he knew best: hotels, traveling, and Hollywood.
John Bemelmans Marciano carries on the legacy begun by his grandfather, Ludwig Bemelmans, author and illustrator of the Madeline books, with stunning watercolor artwork and playful, energetic storytelling. John Bemelmans Marciano is the author and illustrator of several other books including Delilah and Bemelmans: The Life and Art of Madeline’s Creator. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Steven Salerno has illustrated over twenty popular picture books, including The Fantastic Ferris Wheel: The Story ofInventor George Ferris by Betsy Harvey Kraft, and the forth coming Goldenlocks and the Three Pirates by April JonesPrince (FSG/Fall 2017).He is the author-illustrator of five picture books, too, including Coco the Carrot and Wild Child. His illustrations also appear in advertising, magazines, and product packaging. A graduate of Parsons School of Design, he lives and works in New York City
