Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Books

Ian Fleming worked as a journalist, a stockbroker, and an assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence in the Admiralty in London during World War II, a job that amply qualified him for writing internationally best-selling thrillers about super-spy James Bond. Ian Fleming wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for his young son and died in 1964, two months before the book was first published.

Frank Cottrell-Boyce is an award-winning author and screenwriter. Millions, his debut children’s novel, won the CILIP Carnegie Medal. He is also the author of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Flies Again, Cosmic, Framed, and The Astounding Broccoli Boy. His books have been shortlisted for a multitude of prizes, including the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, the Whitbread Children’s Fiction Award (now the Costa Book Awards) and the Roald Dahl Funny Prize. Sputnik’s Guide to Life on Earth was shortlisted for the 2017 CILIP Carnegie Medal.

John Burningham is one of the world’s most recognized and beloved illustrators. His work has received countless awards, including a Boston Globe–Horn Book honor for It’s a Secret! and two Kate Greenaway Medals. Over his fifty-year career, John Burningham has written and illustrated more than thirty picture books, including Picnic, Motor Miles, and Mouse House. He is married to illustrator Helen Oxenbury. They have three children and live in North London.

Joe Berger is the illustrator of Hubble Bubble, Granny Trouble. He is an author of children’s and adult books, an illustrator, and a cartoonist. He also makes the occasional award- winning animated short film and title-sequence. He lives in Bristol with his wife, three daughters, two cats, and a small dog.
