How to Read Judy Moody

Read Judy's 17 numbered chapter books in order, beginning with Judy Moody. The adventures are episodic, and Candlewick notes that children can read them in any order, but numbering gives the cleanest introduction to recurring friends and family.

Stink has his own 14-book numbered series. Judy Moody and Friends contains shorter early readers; Judy Moody and Stink collects four unnumbered joint specials. Stink It Up! is a nonfiction fact guide, not Stink book #9.

For parents

What Parents Should Know

Judy and Stink are loving but imperfect siblings who tease, argue, compete, and make impulsive choices. School embarrassment, friendship conflict, jealousy, bad moods, mild pranks, and gross-out jokes are common, but consequences stay reassuring.

The series gives strong language to feelings and individuality without insisting that Judy be cheerful or compliant. Frequent black-and-white illustrations make the main books accessible; Friends offers a shorter bridge for children not ready for full chapter novels.
