Bookroo's summary

Princess Sue dreams of adventure, not a prince. When her royal suitor arrives, he's not what she expected. Can she escape his clutches and find her own path? Join Sue in a humorous, feminist twist on the classic tale, where she forges her own destiny and makes unexpected friends. This story celebrates courage and individuality, turning the traditional princess narrative on its head.

This book is a fun twist on the classic princess tale. Princess Sue is feisty and spunky, so much more personality than your average princess. It turns out that being rescued and transported to a new castle doesn't quite fit Princess Sue's vision. She wants more, and figures out how to get it! Told in mostly consistent rhyme and meter with fun, colorful illustrations, this book will fast become a favorite.

I think this story of an untraditional princess is a great addition to any library! I love that the princess doesn't just follow the "princess rules," but shows that there is more than one way to be a princess. I also thought the illustrations were fun. :) This book does use the words "bum and twit," but it didn't bother me at all.
