The leaves are colorful, the air is crisp, and the moon is eerily full and bright. It's Halloween! Time for costumes, trick-or-treating, and maybe some spooky stories? We're not big fans of anything too awfully scary around here, so Halloween children's books are just our thing. We love celebrating the season and focusing on the fun, festive aspects, so we've compiled a list of the best kids books about Halloween. Halloween is a fun holiday for children's literature, and this list covers all the variety. There are classic Halloween books on the list. There are some favorite Halloween stories from the 1980s and the 1990s that you're sure to recognize (think The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything and Big Pumpkin). And there are some recent additions to kid Halloween stories that are sure to become favorites. With all the titles on our list, you're sure to find titles that catch pique your interest. Plus, our list includes three book types: board books, picture books, and chapter books. Board and picture books are great if you're looking for a Halloween book for adults to read to children. If you're looking, say, for a Halloween book for 10 year olds, check out the chapter books on the list—they're great for elementary age kids through early middle school tween readers. Find some good books, pour some cider, and enjoy reading by the flickering lights of jack-o-lanterns. Let us know what books you would add to the list!
