By Priscilla Belz Jenkins, Lizzy Rockwell (Illustrator)
Witness the journey from egg to flight as robins nurture their young.
In the heart of spring, a robin carefully prepares her nest, laying beautiful blue eggs. As the days pass, the eggs hatch, revealing fragile chicks. Under the watchful eyes of their parents, these fledglings grow stronger, learning to fly and survive. As winter approaches, they embark on a journey to warmer lands, ready to return next spring to build nests of their own. What challenges await them in their first flight?
What’s inside that pretty blue egg? A baby bird is growing inside that egg. Slowly the bird develops, until one day it cracks through the shell. Safe inside the nest, under the care of its parents, the chick grows stronger. Soon it will learn how to fly and take care of itself. By next spring it will be ready to build its own nest and raise chicks of its own.
