In this delightful introduction to the simple concept of earning money, an exuberant little bunny learns that fame and fortune must be earned. Bun wants to be rich and famous. She loves to sing and knows she’s meant for a career on stage. It should all be pretty easy—her mom can just drive her to the concert hall to perform! But her mom reminds her that most good things, like the garden they are growing, take time and work. At first, Bun isn’t terribly excited by the idea of singing lessons and practice, but as she does the math and daydreams about her future singing career, the more she starts to like the idea of earning her way to stardom—a feeling just as good as being rich and famous!
I thought this was a cute book about a bunny who wants to be rich and famous. :) I loved that her mom did a fantastic job of encouraging her to follow her dreams, but gave realistic and practical advice for how she could do it. The illustrations are cute, too!
My cartoons and stories have appeared in newspapers and magazines and on television in Britain, Canada and the States, and been recognized by the Society for News Design, The National Newspaper Awards, the National Magazine Awards and The Guinness Book of Records. I’m also a recorded singer-songwriter-double bassist, a Scottish Gaelic language student, and a mother of two. I’ve had to be careful with money all my life because I was an art and film student, then a musician, then a cartoonist. I built my home from songs and sketches. When my children were young, I did my best to teach them about money. When I realized there were no children’s books on financial literacy, I created the Moneybunnies series. I wanted to help children understand not only basic money concepts like earning, spending, saving and giving, but also more abstract concepts, like why parents have to go to work, and having less money doesn’t make someone less “”valuable.”” EARN IT!, the first in the series is out now, SPEND IT!, spring 2019 and SAVE IT! and GIVE IT! soon after.
