In a substantive board book format, this introduction to the body is packed full with interesting information and busy illustrations. Almost every open set of pages contains a few rhyming lines as well as loads of relating facts and flaps to discover more information, with the last few pages completely full of more fun facts—this accordian style read allows for a tailored experience to explore as much or as little information as suited for specific children and ages. The content is educational and interesting with tidbits like how “your eyes stay almost the same size your entire life,” or that “your bones glow in the dark.” The predominant text flows fairly well, though a few near rhymes are mingled within, and the bright, colorful illustrations manage to make even the inside body shots cute. A few different references to “poop” and “wee” could either encourage potty humor or segue into a discussion about potty training. This board book is full of entertaining, informative content about the body in an appropriate way for young children, though the lack of an inclusion about body safety is slightly disappointing.
