TIBOR GERGELY (1900-1978), who was born in Hungary and emigrated to the U.S. in 1939, brought to life some of Golden Books’ most classic and beloved characters, including Tootle, Scuffy the Tugboat, and The Little Red Caboose.

Sarah Albee was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and has written books for kids ranging in age from toddler to teen. Sarah mostly writes fiction and non-fiction for kids ages 8-12, but has also written for television-based characters like Dora, Elmo, and Spongebob SquarePants. Sarah lives in Connecticut with her husband, two daughters, and a poodle named Rosie.
Susie Linn graduated from Leeds University, UK, with a degree in Creative Arts, studying art and literature. She began her writing career under another name as an author of children’s nonfiction, later spreading her literary wings to write children’s picture storybooks, as well as creative early learning titles.

Eugenie Fernandes is one of Canada’s most established children’s author-illustrators, with more than ninety books to her credit. Her paintings for illustrations have been used by UNICEF to create cards and puzzles and by One Hen, Inc. to create award-winning educational websites. Her paintings from the books Earth Magic and One Hen: How One Small Loan Made a Big Difference are on display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art, and Earth Magic was short-listed for Canada’s Governor General’s Literary Award for Illustration. Eugenie graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and now lives in Lakehurst, Ontario, where she writes and paints in a studio made of glass.
Anne Kennedy has been illustrating children’s books for twenty-seven years. Anne and her husband live in Ohio.
Joey Chou is an animator and illustrator. He has worked as a visual development artist on feature animated films and television, including Kung Fu Panda, and illustrated Disney’s Finding Nemo: Nemo’s Day Off. New author Amber Lily added her charming, child-friendly voice to the world of children’s publishing during an internship. Amber loves onomatopoeia, has an ear for rhyme and freely admits to sniffing the occasional book! Since graduating from art school, Carrie has worked as a graphic designer, illustrator and art editor for the past 18 years. Carrie is passionate about children’s book illustration and is continually inspired by her daily contact with the artists whom she commissions. She has also written her own books for the very young.
Jessica Gibson is a mostly self-taught freelance illustrator who graduated from Wayne County Community College with an associate of arts degree. Though she primarily illustrates children’s books, Jessica also creates artwork for magazines and has an interest in character design.
