Summary

What young child doesn’t like to dig? Now he or she can dig with a cast of backyard characters: a mole, a worm, a mouse, a rabbit, and a dog. But what other diggers delight the small child? Why, the mighty steam shovel that digs under rivers and through mountains.First published in 1960, The Diggers combines all the classic elements of Margaret Wise Brown’s enduring talent: simple, rich language, charming characters, and realism and fantasy expertly interwoven. Dan Kirk’s art has a retro feel that beautifully compliments this timeless story.

    Illustrator
    Katy Hudson

Katy was raised in Middlesbrough and started her Illustration career as a small child drawing on freshly emulsioned walls around the house! Her parents quickly dissuaded this medium and encouraged drawing with pencil and paper instead. The idea stuck (the pencil was updated to an ink pot and pen in some cases) and after some lovely time at Art College and a degree in Illustration Katy is now a freelance Illustrator based in London. Her debut author/illustrated picture book “Bear and Duck” was published by Harper Collins in June 2015, her second “Too Many Carrots” was published by Capstone in February 2016. She is currently working on her third and fourth picture books and is very excited about that!
