Summary

Ugly Cat is dying for a paleta, or ice pop, and his friend Pablo is determined to help him get one by scaring a little girl who is enjoying a coconut paleta in the park. Things go horribly wrong when, instead of being scared, the little girl picks Pablo up and declares that he would make a great snack for her pet snake. Oh and there’s also the small problem that Ugly Cat may have inadvertently swallowed Pablo in all of the commotion! Isabel Quintero was born and raised by Mexican immigrant parents in Southern California’s Inland Empire. She earned her BA in English and her MA in English Composition at California State University, San Bernardino. Her debut YA novel, Gabi, A Girl in Pieces, won the 2015 Morris Award for Debut YA Fiction and the Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award.

Tom Knight

Tom is an award winning children’s book author and illustrator from the east coast of England. In addition to writing and illustrating his own children’s books, he has also illustrated many more. Tom and his wife Tabby live near Colchester, England, with their two sons. Together they share a passion for gardening and decorating. Tom is also a talented graphic designer and has created many beautiful prints. Tom is also a musician.
