Much of the humor comes from Zeke hiding that he is an alien while Harris tries to expose him. The books include secrecy, jealousy, exclusion, pranks, cheating accusations, and worries about leaving friends.
Spaceships, unfamiliar planets, alien technology, and occasional danger add excitement without graphic violence. Friendship and curiosity remain more important than the scares.
