Fans of Agnese Baruzzi’s imaginative board books will “gobble up” this lively book about a wolf whose eyes and appetite are bigger than his stomach. In this hilarious lift-the-flap board book, a HUNGRY wolf is ready to devour whatever animal crosses his path, with a quick “chomp, chomp!” But when he gobbles up one creature who’s a little more challenging than he imagines, the wolf may have to rethink his diet altogether. Children will love lifting the flaps of this book to find out who’s on the menu, and what happens when one hungry wolf meets his match.
I love most of the things I've seen of Agnese Baruzzi, but while the illustratrions were cute and worked cleverly with the flaps, it was first a bit too "scary" (a wolf wolfing down one small animal after another, particularly with the loose bird feathers on the first page), and then felt overly moralizing with the switch to fruits and veggies on the last page. Just not my cup of tea.
Agnese Baruzzi has written and illustrated more than 40 children’s books that have been published in Italy, the UK, Japan, Portugal, the US, France, and South Korea. Her books with White Star include Curious Creatures, Dinosaurs Mix & Match, Dining with Monsters!, Topsy-Turvy Monsters, I’m Going to Eat You!, and Hansel and Gretel.
