Why would she “want” to go to school, when
...her teacher is a warty toad?
...her friends are crooks and villains?
...the principal chops your head off if you talk in class?
It can’t be true...or “can” it?
Find out in this laugh-out-loud account of the horrors of going to school, told from the point of view of a girl with a huge imagination
“ ‘Well, I want you to know I’m right here when you need me, Treehorn,’ said the Principal, ‘and I’m glad I was here to help you. A team is only as good as its coach, eh?’ The Principal stood up, ‘Goodbye, Treehorn. If you have any more problems, come straight to me, and I’ll help you again. A problem isn’t a problem once it’s solved, right?’ “
“ ‘I can’t read this,’ said the Principal. ‘It looks like SHIRKING. You’re not SHIRKING, are you, Treehorn? We can’t have any shirkers here, you know. We’re a team, and we all have to do our very best.’ “
“After The Souls had won the Epiphany Middle School championship, Dr. Roy Clayton Rohmer paid a visit to Mrs Olinski and asked -guess what?- why she had chosen the team. She still did not know (and wouldn’t until after it was all over), but by that time the success of the Souls (even if she did not yet know that they were The Souls) had made Mrs. Olinski less timid.”
The principal is, of course, pure evil. The other adults are mostly unaware of the epic battle shaping up around them. Only when evil is about to triumph do the young people at last understand the true nature of their power.
