What's Color Blocked About

Publisher Summary

The color is blocked! Readers must rub, turn, and tap the pages to straighten out pipes, unplug corks, and keep the color flowing. But watch out–the color might run faster than you can keep up! Along the way, readers will learn primary colors, how mixing colors can make secondary colors, and why you should never, ever, put a turtle in charge.

If books had families, this one would be a cousin to Hervé Tullet's "Press Here"—as you're instructed to shake, spin, etc. the book and then turn the page, the situation has evolved. It's a cute concept and has been applied to this new situation in a way that's clever and well-executed. It took my toddler a little bit to catch on to the full color-mixing concept, but not he's all over it and can't wait to mix, push the buttons and tilt the book to create all new colors!

I love books that are interactive by moving the book itself or touching it. :) A simple, fun book to help you learn your colors and help you learn what happens when two colors mix. Very fun!

The Creatives Behind the Book

    Author
    Ashley Sorenson

Ashley Sorenson lives in Utah. She has degrees in Business and Behavioral Science and like devoted teachers and parents worldwide, she aspires to create a positive learning environment for children through art and creativity. No matter how grand or subtle that impact may be. (Bio via ashleysorensonbooks.com)

    Illustrator
    David W Miles

David Miles makes books for a living. He also reads books, writes books, sells books, shelves books, thinks about books, drives to books, sleeps to books, and cooks from books, but he doesn’t eat books (which is fortunate). He is the author of Book and has illustrated multiple series including the Slide-N-Seek novelty books and the Let’s Count regional board books. David graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in business management. He and his wife and son live in California where they enjoy lots of tacos, donuts, and, well . . . books.
