Such a fun book to talk to your kids about sickness with a fun storyline. The whole story is about how you can help and take care of an elephant that has the sniffles, and the ideas in it teach how they can react if a sibling, parent, or they themselves get a cold.

Super cute book! The little girl's antics trying to help her elephant feel better are adorable (and hilarious!) and the parody of the parent-child relationship may be lost on your toddler, but it won't be on you :) I love that it creates empathy for the care giver and gives kids a framework for relating to how to take care of sick people (whether that's them, a sibling, or a parent!) It's a little long for my 18-month-old currently, and I have to read it pretty quickly or point out lots of things as we read to keep him engaged, but I'm holding out for the idea that it's planting fantastic ideas in his subconscious, and he'll enjoy it more as his attention span increases.

Susanna Leonard Hill

Susanna is an award winning children’s author who has authored 15 children’s books with 10 more forthcoming over the next two years. She was born in New York City and attended Brearley School, then graduated with a degree in English and Psychology from Middlebury College. Later she received her M.A. and M.Ed. from Columbia University. She spent many years teaching dyslexic students, and she has been writing stories ever since the second grade, when she wrote her first story, The Girl and The Witch. Daniel Wiseman likes to draw. A lot. He likes it so much, he’s made a career out of it. Usually he draws animals wearing clothes, or kids enjoying a good dance party. However, when prodded, he’s been known to draw pretty much anything else. Daniel currently lives in St. Louis, Missouri, with his beautiful wife and his equally beautiful son.
