This book is a favorite in our house. The illustrations are darling and it's fun for me as an Austen fan to see how the simple board book story really does loosely follow the plot of the original novel. Beyond the cute pictures, it's been a useful tool for us as well. From the time my daughter was very young, well before she could talk, she learned to make the faces of each of the emotions, which gave her a fun way to participate in the book. As she got a little older, this book helped her to find a word for various emotions and talk about how she was feeling. I love the BabyLit series of board books, but I don't love them all equally; this one is at the top of my list.
This book could help young readers learn to identify their emotions by associating them with characters in the book.

Jennifer graduated from the University of Washington. She has 20 years’ experience as a book editor, including at Gibbs Smith and Quirk Books. She currently works as a consulting editor for Sounds True, developing their children’s line. Jennifer works some evenings at her local independent bookstore, The King’s English, to feed her book habit. She lives in Salt Lake City with her husband, Bill Dunford, who is also a writer.
Alison’s portfolio reflects her love of drawing, pattern and color. Her work includes everything from logos to packaging and product design. She is also the illustrator of the bestselling BabyLit board books which introduce children to classic literature.
