Benny Alden just may be the most popular kid in America! As the youngest of the Boxcar Children, he’s always ready with a funny comment, a question about the next meal, or a solution to a mystery. Like all the characters in the Boxcar Children “RM” Mysteries, he’s very independent, and he knows it’s important to be kind and honest and work hard. So what better way to introduce younger readers to the magic of the Boxcar Children than through Benny, along with the Alden family’s faithful dog, Watch? Many readers ages 6-8 will be able to read The Adventures of Benny and Watch “RM” stories by themselves. This series is available in paper only.
GERTRUDE CHANDLER WARNER was born in 1890 in Putnam, Connecticut, where she later taught school. She wrote The Boxcar Children because she had often imagined how delightful it would be to live in a caboose or freight car. Encouraged by the book’s success, she went on to write eighteen more stories about the Alden children.
