How to buy books and get reimbursed by Step Up For Students
You don't have to wait for MyScholarShop. We're in Step Up's seller onboarding queue, but while you wait, they've advised us that families may purchase eligible products directly from us and submit those purchases for reimbursement, subject to program requirements.
Florida's published guidelines say the same thing: “The SFO will reimburse parents/guardians for their purchase of eligible products or services that meet their student's educational needs.” (FES-UA Purchasing Guidelines 2026–27.) Buying direct isn't a workaround — it's the route Florida built on purpose, and we generate the invoice that goes with it!

Submit by August 31 for the school year's purchases. If Step Up places a request on hold, you have 30 days to respond — submitting early leaves room.

A full itemized breakdown — the date with the year, each item, subtotal, tax, shipping, and total. A standard order confirmation is missing most of that; our invoice isn't.

Your student's name, spelled exactly as it appears on their scholarship account — the invoice tool asks for it so it matches.

Proof of payment: the invoice shows your payment method, so it doubles as your proof and you usually won't need a separate bank statement.

PEP
Personalized Education Program

PEP is Florida's program for parent-directed learning — families teaching at home rather than enrolling full time in a school. It's the program most Bookroo families use, and books and subscription kits are both eligible.
