Clem is an explorer, a collector, a protector of the seas! Treasure hunting on her beloved beach, she stumbles across Crab, whose claw is stuck in a plastic bag. Crab will be much safer and happier in the city with Clem, but doesn’t he belong on the beach? A stunningly illustrated, timely tale of cleaning up our beaches, with the message that every small action helps.
The illustrations in this one are so, SO cute, and I picked it up expecting a fun beach story of friendship between the little girl and the crab. While all of those elements were present, this book also has a strong "protect and clean the beaches!" message (done it a bit of a hit-you-over-the-head way), so if you're looking for a book to help teach kids to clean up beaches, this is your book! Overall, cute illustrations, lovely message, but the very strong presentation of the moral made this less enjoyable as an everyday storytime type of book.
