End the day with this adorable book that teaches little readers to say “good night” in fifteen different languages including Thai, Swahili Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Gaelic, and more! About the Global Greetings series: These beautifully illustrated, sturdy board books teach young readers to greet the world in languages from around the globe. Featuring simple pronunciation guides, these books are designed to help little ones master each word and encourage them to broaden their language skills, all while the adorable animal illustrations keep them entertained read after read.
A very fun premise with darling illustrations of animals saying goodnight in different langagues. I appreciate that they each have the phonetic spelling and a sign saying where each animal is, but some of the animals say "good night" in more than one language, and I wish that was clearly marked alongside each one (at the end of the book, it explains what animals are speaking which languages, but you might not be able to infer which "good night" on the page was for which language when there are two).
Darling illustrations, slower read. Learning to pronounce each new language on each page makes it a less smooth flow. This would be fun to read with older kids to teach them the sounds of other languages and learn a little bit more about the world.
Aleksandra Szmidt grew up in a town in the south of Poland and currently resides in New Zealand. In Poland, she worked as a graphic designer. Upon moving, she decided to pursue her dream as a freelance illustrator. From her home studio, Aleksandra creates one-of-a-kind artwork for clients across the world. Her love of drawing plants and animals is attributed to her landscape architecture studies. However, she prefers to design magical things often detached from reality. She loves both traditional and digital painting, so she also likes to mix them.
