An introduction to the life and paper-cutout art of Henri Matisse describes his early sketching hobby, famous paintings and the illness that confined him to a wheelchair and inspired his sophisticated paper-cutout masterworks.
A fun, creative biography about Henri Matisse. This book shows how Henri began painting and using scissors for his art in later years. I especially loved the beautiful ending of the story. The illustrations are great and in the style of Matisse, though parents may want to know that one of the illustrations shows paintings done by this literary Matisse, and one of them contains nude subjects.
