Using simple rhyming text, follows the adventures of various Dachshund dogs, including playing in the snow, digging in the garden, reading, and roller skating.
This is a really cute book! With collage illustrations somewhere between Eric Carle and Leo Lionni, it feels vaguely familiar, yet new. Although it starts like an opposites book, it quickly becomes more active with clever internal rhyming lines. Preparing to write this review, I read it three times in a row. I could read it again and again.
Yes, it's another opposites book--but it's a silly and fresh take on the typical opposites board book formula. The illustrations are unexpected and fun, and the rhyming text is a big plus. It sets up some unusual pairs of opposites, which is a pleasant surprise. Especially for a toddler who loves dogs, this board book will be a hit!
