What if an entire world of MONSTERS lived underneath your floor? Martina is having trouble sleeping because she is afraid monsters might break through the floor and bring her into the monster world where she’ll have to learn how to scare humans. Meanwhile, Anitram, a little girl monster, is also having trouble sleeping. There’s a noisy little human jumping on the bed in the upside-down world under her floor! Martina and Anitram have more in common than they realize and when a mysterious hole opens up in the floor between their worlds, they are in for a big surprise! A beautiful and clever tale that makes a perfect bedtime story for anyone who is afraid of (or wants to become friends with) a monster!
In this story, a little girl is scared to go to bed because she believes there's a world of monsters upside down through the floor. Her dad tells her to be brave, that when you're brave, it makes the monsters shrink down really tiny and run away. She's able to fall asleep and dreams of a monster who's afraid of a little girl that lives in the upside down world, and her dad comes and tells her that fear shrinks down to a tiny piece of fluff if she is brave. I appreciated the message that being brave can calm your fears, and I did like this story. Because they talk about an upside-down world, you have to turn the book and read the font that is sideways or upside down throughout the book. If your child is terrified of monsters, I'd say try reading this book. :) While it doesn't say that "monsters don't exist," in the end the girl and monster meet and realize there's nothing to be afraid of.
