From the publisher

A little lamb with a great big imagination. A new picture book from Paula Vasquez filled with delightful illustrations depicting a little lamb intent on being true to herself. Lily Wool gets bored with all of the grazing and resting that the herd does and prefers to count stars and dream of adventures. When Lily finds a strand of loose wool, she lets her imagination run wild and has a grand time until she accidentally unravels a problem. Children will love seeing how Lily Wool puts her imagination and creativity to work to fix things, and how Lily discovers a way to help others while she finds her special place in the herd. Paula Vasquez,an avowed artist from childhood, studied graphic design at the Universidad Catlica de Chile, and honed her illustration skills with a post-graduate diploma from Finis Terrae University. She currently lives in Santiago de Chile writing and illustrating children’s picture books.

Stories behind the story

Lily Wool is such a fun book about someone who is not afraid to be themselves. Why did you create the story?

It started with a comic I made a long time ago. Years later, while studying a writing for children course in London, we met again and I thought, "Why not make a story?" I have always felt a bit like Lily Wool, with many dreams and multiple times it has not been easy to reach them. I made this story for me and for all those people who, like Lily, struggle for a dream and, even if there are adversities, they never lose hope.

This is a cute story of a very imaginative sheep. She seems to cause a bit of trouble as she daydreams, but eventually she turns that fault into a great thing for everyone.

Lily Wool is different—in a good way. She has lots of ideas and is quick on her feet when things go wrong. I love how this book encourages exploring your passions and thinking independently.

Lily Wool is such a playful and inventive tale! I love the message of the story, that Lily Wool embraces her differences to find her unique voice and contribution among the members of her flock. As a business owner myself, I also love her resourcefulness in opening her seamstress shop!

The story of one little sheep with a big imagination is delightfully told and the illustrations are lovely and whimsical. While Lily Wool is a little reckless in her exploration (resulting in some consequences for others), I love that once she becomes aware of this she uses her imagination again to solve the problem she created, leading her to find her passion as a creator and entrepreneur. We don't have to be perfect, just try our best!

I love Lily in this book! Such a fun-loving sheep that has different interests than the rest of the herd, and she does her best to right her mistake. I love that in doing so, she discovers a talent and runs with it!
