Janet Schulman is the editor of The 20th-Century Children’s Book Treasury. She has worked in children’s book publishing as an editor and an author for more than 40 years. She also compiled a follow-up anthology of classic stories of the 20th century, You Read to Me & I’ll Read to You. She lives in New York City Meilo So is the award-winning illustrator of The 20th-Century Children’s Poetry Treasury, The Beauty of the Beast, Tasty Baby Belly Buttons, and It’s Simple, Said Simon.
Sergei Prokofiev, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, was born in 1891 in the Ukraine and died in 1953 in Moscow. He composed Peter and the Wolf in 1936.
Peter Malone has illustrated over twenty children’s books for such publishers as Chronicle, Knopf, Putnam, Running Press, and Scholastic. In addition to creating gorgeous illustrations, he wrote the book, Close to the Wind, about the use of the Beaufort scale for measuring wind force at sea. School Library Journal called it “informative and utterly charming.” He lives in Bath, England, with his wife, a restorer of paintings, and their two grown daughters.
