How to Read Babymouse

Read the 20 original black-and-white-and-pink graphic novels in numbered order, beginning with Queen of the World. Most stories stand alone, so children can also sample a favorite theme without losing the larger friendship context.

The Big Adventures of Babymouse offers larger full-color stories for younger readers. Tales from the Locker moves Babymouse into illustrated middle-grade novels. Flip-book editions repackage pairs of original stories and do not add to the 20-book count.

For parents

What Parents Should Know

The conflicts are familiar and gentle: feeling left out, wanting popularity, rivalry, jealousy, school performances, sports, fears, and occasional mean behavior. Babymouse's imagination supplies dramatic monsters and disasters, but the real-world stakes stay low.

The quick panels, repeated visual jokes, and limited color palette make the originals approachable for newly independent graphic readers. Babymouse makes mistakes and can be self-centered, but the stories consistently return to friendship, persistence, and accepting herself.
