Bear and Mouse Books

The seven stories are shown in publication order. Each works independently, but A Visitor for Bear is the best introduction because it shows how persistent Mouse first breaks through Bear's resistance to friendship.

Bear can be impatient, controlling, or gloomy, while Mouse keeps testing his boundaries with warmth and humor. Their disagreements offer useful openings for talking about friendship, flexibility, empathy, and asking what someone else needs.

The tension is mild: one book centers on a cold, another on fear of nighttime noise, and the newest story addresses sadness about seasonal change. There is no violence or lasting danger.
