In order from Creepy Carrots! to Creepy Crayon!.
Aaron Reynolds and Peter Brown turn carrots, underwear, crayons, and everyday worries into funny chills. Three picture books star young Jasper; three illustrated chapter books feature an older Jasper telling cautionary tales about other animals.

Read the three picture books in publication order, beginning with Creepy Carrots! Each is a complete story, so children can also choose the object that sounds funniest or spookiest.
Troubling Tonsils!, Unsettling Salad!, and Yarn Is Everything! form a separate chapter-book spin-off. They are longer, independently readable tales narrated by an older Jasper, not books #4–6 of one continuous plot.

The picture books build suspense around objects that seem threatening, but the scares are playful and usually end with a comic reversal. Dark palettes, imagined pursuit, and uncertainty may feel intense to very sensitive preschoolers.
The chapter books are aimed at independent elementary readers and lean further into goofy horror: medical worries, biting vegetables, and runaway yarn become exaggerated threats. The danger is fantastical rather than graphic, and humor remains the release valve.
