The fourteen original volumes are shown in numbered publication order. Beginning with The Best Little Ghost in the World introduces Johnny, Squiggle, and the Ice Cream Monster, though most later stories can stand alone.

Johnny Boo: On the Go is a later omnibus collecting the first seven volumes, not book fifteen, so it is not repeated in the main sequence.

Despite the ghosts and monsters, this is a goofy early-reader series rather than a scary one. Conflicts involve boredom, jealousy, arguments, nighttime nerves, or absurd pretend danger and resolve quickly.

Simple panel layouts, large lettering, repetition, and visual punch lines make the books approachable for children new to comics. Friendship and imaginative play matter more than lessons or continuity.
