A mysterious sky rift reveals a colorless void. What lies beyond?
Dave gazes at the sky's chaotic patchwork from his office window, discovering a rift leading to a colorless void. As stars retreat from its edges, he wonders what secrets this anomaly holds. Is it a gateway, a threat, or something beyond imagination? The sky's mystery beckons, challenging Dave to uncover its truth.
Dave stared around the office. He went to the window and stared upwards at the crazy patchwork of the sky. For all he knew, in such a sky there might be cracks. In fact, as he looked, he could make out a rift, and beyond that a … hole … a small patch where there was no color, and yet the sky there was not black. There were no stars there, though points of light were clustered around the edges, apparently retreating. Lester del Rey was an American science fiction author and editor at Del Rey Books.
