A little duck waits excitedly for a special delivery to arrive—a new baby sibling. But when the doorbell rings and the delivery turtle hands over a baby mouse (instead of the expected baby duck), things start to get a little skiwampus. Time after time the doorbell rings, and Little Duck is greeted with special deliveries of baby animals, all of whom are decidedly NOT ducks, but as she tries to explain she is cut off repeatedly by the delivery turtles response of “No, No. I don’t make mistakes.” Little Duck grows increasingly harried as she tries to care for a house full of different newborns (many of whom are bigger than she!) until finally she is delivered when upper management—fittingly a stork— arrives to correct the mistakes. Readers will find themselves chortling along with the humorous premise and illustrations full of enjoyable details. The star of the show is most assuredly Little Duck and her facial expressions, as she goes from confused, to overwhelmed, to furious and finally to absolutely enamored when her own special delivery of a baby duck brother finally arrives, in a touchingly final sweet note.
