Stories behind the story

What part of creating [this book] did you most enjoy?

One of the things I loved about creating this book was creating the multi generational, multi racial family. I wanted the main characters, the kids, to be surrounded by a warm colorful family. By Mary Uhles (illustrator)

What was the hardest part about creating [this book]?

Definitely the last scene where the whole family is gathered around. There are 15 characters on that page if you include the stuffed animals.... which I do because to an illustrator everything is a character! By Mary Uhles (illustrator)

When was your favorite time reading [this book] aloud? Why?

How my gosh this book is the best read aloud. When I do school visits with it I can get the kids shouting "stop it now please" every time! But probably my favorite time was at my own book launch when my daughter shouted out that line before anyone else could. By Mary Uhles (illustrator)
