The illustrations in this book are gorgeous! I think this book does a great job of taking elements from The Nutcracker to expose younger children to the story, though there isn't actually a storyline.

I love the concept of this book (and really all the BabyLit books!)—introducing children to classic literature and culture at their own level. The illustrations are gorgeous (my favorite part of this book!) and I like how well this format lends itself to varied reading depending on the age and development of the little listener (I can just read my son the story portion, focus on the action portions and act it out, etc.), but it hasn't had any particular interest to my 18 month old.
