Amy L. Young grew up just outside Boston, Massachusetts. She was educated at Yale (BA), Indiana University (MFA in painting) and Harvard Law School. She practiced law in Grand Rapids, Michigan for seven years before she realized that she could not live without doing art full time. She has been happily writing and illustrating ever since. Amy has created somewhere around fourteen picture books, including her most recent series, A UNICORN NAMED SPARKLE (Farrar Straus Giroux). Other books include THE MUD FAIRY (Bloomsbury USA), DON’T EAT THE BABY! (Viking), and BELINDA THE BALLERINA (Viking). Amy’s books have been praised by the New York Times, Kirkus Review, School Library Journal, and have also received many honors and awards.
