I loved this story of Abraham Lincoln and his upbringing. He had an interesting childhood full of trials and sorrow and moving from place to place. Most of all I loved learning how his love of books came to be.
Kay Winters was a classroom teacher, reading specialist and college instructor, as well as a language arts consultant for the American International Schools in Egypt, Nepal, India, Jordan, Greece, Israel and Italy before changing jobs to follow her dream and write for children. She specializes in picture books and chapter books, ages 3 to 12. She has appeared on CSpan, Book TV, and PBS. Her twenty-two books have won numerous awards, and she had two books out in 2018.
Nancy Carpenter is the illustrator of more than 40 children’s books and has received numerous honors for her work, including two Christopher Awards and the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award. She lives in Brooklyn with her family.
