Inspired by Caldecott Honor book Flora and the Flamingo, this series of board books is perfect for the very youngest Flora fans. When a new feathered friend seems so different from her, Flora discovers that opposites, in fact, attract! Featuring fold-out pages and Molly Idle’s graceful artwork, this adorable book of opposites will delight young children as they master new words and concepts.
I love this lift-the-flap book! It's beautifully illustrated, and I love that it has an ostrich in it. The book is a wonderful opposites book, and it creatively uses the flaps to better demonstrate the text.
Told through expressive, graceful illustrations this book explores opposites through what can best be described as an introductory dance. Flora and the ostrich are getting to know each other through their exploration of the opposites and find that they have more in common than it may first appear. It has beautiful fold-out pages and a lovely unifying ending.
Molly Idle graduated from Arizona State University with a BFA in drawing and began her career at DreamWorks Feature Animation Studios. She now lives in Arizona with her husband, two sons, and two snuggly cats. Tea Rex is her first book.
