Kind hearted Elliot's wish to have the Christmas spirit is a good reminder for kids and adults to focus on the giving and serving aspects of the Christmas season. The story's inclusion of some fun holiday traditions along Elliot's journey (sledding, visiting Santa) makes it a festive book for the season.
