How to Read the Amulet Graphic Novels

Read Amulet in numbered order from The Stonekeeper through Waverider. Each volume continues Emily and Navin's journey, and later revelations about the stone, the Elf King, and Alledia depend directly on earlier events.

Waverider is book #9 and the conclusion of the story. These books are original graphic novels—not visual adaptations of a prose series—so there is no alternate novel order to compare. The official coloring book is an activity book and does not add a tenth story.

For parents

What Parents Should Know

The series opens with the death of Emily and Navin's father in a car crash, followed by their mother's kidnapping and poisoning. Later books include monsters, battles, weapons, possession and mind control, imprisonment, war, injuries, frightening transformations, and deaths of sympathetic characters.

The full-color art makes danger immediate even when it is not gory. Scholastic recommends the series broadly for ages 8–12, but children sensitive to parental loss, a child carrying adult responsibility, or sustained fantasy peril may appreciate a parent checking in—especially during the opening and the darker middle volumes.

Where to start

Where Should My Child Start?

Amulet tells one continuous story, so there is one clear starting point.

New to Alledia

Begin with The Stonekeeper. If its family-centered fantasy, cinematic artwork, and cliffhanger ending appeal, continue straight through the numbered volumes.
