Summary: Duri's mother is sick with the blood plague and her father takes any job he can find, until the crown prince's guards arrest him after the prince is robbed. When a boy named Rio comes looking for Papa, Duri agrees to finish the job for the money her family needs, only to learn the cargo is the prince's stolen dragon eggs. Hunted across an empire by deadly dragonkeepers, Duri begins to wonder whether dragons should belong to anyone at all.
